The Honeytones gig at Dartmoor Prison
June 7th, 2009

We did a fantastic gig at HMP Dartmoor last Tuesday 2nd June 2009.
After our final number, one of the prisoners stepped forward to make a speech.
He started crying and found it difficult to say anything for a while, however he did finally manage a very touching speech. He said :
” There are two words to describe what we have just seen and heard. One is WOW, and the other is INSPIRATIONAL. I don’t think there is anyone is this room today who has not been inspired by what we have just seen and heard”.
Staff later said that many of the audience had red eyes as they filed out of the venue room. Comments from other prisoners included the following :
“The abandonment to joy was wonderful to see”
“I thought I had problems, then I see them and they are so happy and content with themselves, I was choked up”
“Just incredible”
“An inspiration and so moving, I haven’t seen anything so moving and full of life for so long”
“I could watch them all over again, they were the best thing I’ve seen for years”
Touching stuff eh ? It certainly proved to us that we MUST continue with this work.
I just pray that we find a way to raise enough to buy our own minibus.
Gemma Realises 2 ambitions
June 8th, 2009
Gemma with Holllie and Katie
Of the many ambitions that most of us harbour through our lives, somewhere in there is a desire to have a pet of some kind.
Gemma had 2 such dreams. To own a cat, and to own a poodle. She has recently achieved both of these ambitions, as the attached pictures prove.
Hollie and Katie - Gemma's pets.
Jacob Price Superstar
June 11th, 2009
Jacob doing what he does best !
The ever-smiling Jacob Price
Jacob has been a band member for a few years now. And boy are we glad he found us ! Jake has a voice that your average blues singer would die for – deep, throaty, like a handful of gravel in a tin bucket.
No wonder Jacob is lead vocal in the band.
Jacob also brings another vital ingredient to the band, and that is his wonderful infectious enthusiasm for what he does. He loves and LIVES every moment that he spends on stage. It is this ingredient that the whole band shares – the sheer joy of performing – and it is this that has endeared us to so many people.
Jacob has recently completed his Princes Trust Award and he is rightly very proud of this achievement. We are hoping to perform for the Princes Trust people at some stage.
Well done Jake.
