SHAME

The band has it’s roots back in 2002. At that time Bob worked at a residential community for adults with learning disabilities. It was here among the residents that he met all of the people who would later become members of The Honeytones.

There were two residents who showed a particular interest in music and it was their enthusiasm which led Bob to digging out a couple of old keyboards from his attic and spending an hour a week showing them the basics of making music.

The two residents were Mary, who sadly is no longer a member, and Gemma who remains as enthusiastic now as she ever was. It is to these two young women that Bob owes a huge debt of gratitude because they sowed the seeds of what eventually became The Honeytones. Bob very soon realised that being part of a band would be more satisfying and more  fun than he could ever have imagined.

From that modest start in 2002, the group quickly grew to include Mark, Danny, Carl, Mike, Jacob, Terry, Robbie, and most recently, Tillie. There have been other members who have come and gone but one who needs a special mention is Georgie.

Georgie was a young woman who was a very active member of The Honeytones. She overcame significant disability to become an extremely competent keyboard player with a sense of rhythm and timing that was absolutely spot on. Her sad death in 2006 was a devastating blow for the band but we all knew that the best tribute we could pay to Georgie was to ensure that the band carried on.
